Private Trail Ride (2 hours) for Advanced Riders

What can I expect from a two-hour trail ride for advanced riders at Wanderreitstation Simmehof? Here you’ll find all the important information about the schedule, the stable, the ride, whether photos are taken, and my review.

Information

Due to COVID-19, all rides were conducted individually. During this time, there were no riding groups with strangers. The guide could accommodate the wishes of each rider.

Stable

The Simmehof is located on a hill with a beautiful view in the Black Forest. The horses were kept in a herd in an open stable. Hay was available at all times. The pastures were already visible on the way up the hill.

Arrival

After a short conversation, the owner assigned a horse to the guest. The rider led the horse from the open stable.

At the grooming area, the riders prepared the horses for the ride.

Trail Ride

The ride led over the hills. Whenever the forest didn’t block the view, there were beautiful vistas of the Black Forest. Each time we went downhill, everyone dismounted and led the horses. During the ride, we frequently got on and off. When the horses pooped, we dismounted to move the droppings aside. We rode mostly at a walk. We trotted and cantered briefly twice. Due to the constant uphill and downhill sections and the curves, the paths were often not visible ahead. For safety reasons, we rode mostly at a walk.

After the ride

Back at the stable, everyone unsaddled and unbridled their horse. The rider groomed the horse again and returned it to the open stable.

Photos

A photo break was possible upon request.

My Review

I enjoyed the ride. The scenery was beautiful. The owners made sure to relieve the horses’ backs when riding downhill. I also liked that I could prepare my horse myself.
