Information
Guests could only pay for the ride in cash (Namibian dollars). Helmets were available free of charge on-site.
Rides at Reitabenteuer Casanova were conducted in Western saddles. An English saddle was available upon request.
I had the privilege of a private ride, which was unforgettable. Many beautiful photos and videos were taken.
Stable
In the evening, the horses were kept in two different paddocks and allowed to have their dinner once we returned from the ride. In their free time, the horses were allowed to roam the large fields.
Arrival
The owner informed me of the exact meeting point on the farm. The horses were already saddled and bridled at the tie-up area, ready for the ride. Before setting off, I had to sign a consent form and choose a helmet.
We went to the horses, I greeted my riding horse, took the reins, and together we walked through a gate to the mounting aid. In the presence of the owner, I mounted, adjusted the stirrups, moved to the side, and once the owner was seated, the ride began.
She let me choose between a riding safari mostly at a walk or a faster ride. Due to the warm temperatures, we chose the riding safari.

Trail Ride
Our ride began along small paddocks, soon reaching a gate. The owner dismounted, opened it, and let me ride through before closing it again. From there, the sandy path led deep into nature to a dry riverbed called the “territory.” Since the riverbed was completely dry, we crossed it easily and followed narrow paths winding through camel thorn trees.
Soon, we spotted the first giraffes. We were lucky to encounter a herd of 13 giraffes accompanied by eland antelopes. A true highlight: I got to ride around the herd alone and experience these majestic animals up close. We then followed the eland antelopes to capture the moment in its full beauty. Continuing through dense camel thorn bushes, we came across a group of sable antelopes. These animals were not afraid, allowing me to ride very close and take a breathtaking photo.
A little further, we found two chairs, a cooler, and a folded table. The owner prepared a cozy picnic, setting up the table with a tablecloth, cold drinks, and nuts from the cooler. We enjoyed the calm and the evening light as the sun slowly set on the horizon.
Soon we set off again, riding through the bushes and taking a sandy path at a gallop. We turned left and followed the trail past the impressive giraffe herd again. On the way back, we encountered more antelopes and giraffes before crossing the riverbed again and returning to the familiar path back to the ranch.

I wore the riding leggings from Royal Horsemen for this ride – especially comfortable in warm weather thanks to the mesh.

After the ride
Back at the tie-up area, we dismounted and the owner tied up the horses. She sent me all the photos via AirDrop, and at the end, I paid for the ride. It was time to say goodbye to the horse and the lovely owner.
Photos
During my ride, we took over 200 photos in total, capturing images of wildlife whenever possible and many photos during the picnic.
My Review
I really enjoyed the ride. It was a highlight to ride so close to giraffes and various species of antelopes. The small picnic with cold drinks was also perfect to refresh and recharge.
