What can I expect from a one-hour beginner-friendly walking ride at Rancho Bonanza? Here you’ll find all the key information about the procedure, the stable, the ride itself, whether photos are taken, and my personal review.

Information

Riders could register by phone or WhatsApp. The owner of Rancho Bonanza asked about each rider’s experience. Long pants and sturdy shoes were mandatory. Helmets were available free of charge on-site. The ride was paid in cash.

Stable

Almost all riding horses lived together on a paddock field with 24/7 access to food. The horses stayed in a herd. Some horses were kept in paddock boxes near the stable, also with 24/7 food available. The owner made sure the horses’ workload was evenly distributed.

Arrival

Upon arrival, the owner assigned the horses to each rider. The team prepared the horses for the ride. In the center of the yard there was a covered feeding area. Horses coming in from the paddock were tied there and allowed to enjoy their “second breakfast” while the staff got them ready.

Before the ride began, the staff led the horses to the water trough. Only after drinking were the horses bridled. At the mounting block, guests got on their horses while staff held the reins. Girths were tightened and stirrups adjusted. Finally, the trail leader announced the riding order.

Trail Ride

At the start, we crossed a busy road. A staff member, wearing a safety vest and holding a stop sign, stepped onto the road to stop the cars. This allowed all riders to cross safely and head into the forest. On the way to the nature reserve, we crossed two more quiet roads.

The path led us through a parking area and then deeper into the nature reserve. The ride passed by the bay of “Cala Agulla,” where riders could admire the sea from horseback. Riding directly on the beach was not allowed between April and October. The route continued at a walk along rocky trails within the reserve until we reached a triangular-shaped path.

From there, we followed the same route back, passing Cala Agulla once again. After crossing the parking area, we returned through the forest and back to the stable.

After the ride

Back at the stable, the staff untacked the horses and returned them to their paddock.

A photo break was possible upon request.

My Review

I really enjoyed this trail ride. The area was stunning for horseback riding, with plenty of variety and beautiful views. The horses were well cared for, and the team made sure everything was well organized.
