Information

Guests could pay for the ride in cash, by card, or directly when booking online through the “Ranch Manippos” website. These were group rides with other guests. Riding helmets were available free of charge on-site, and all rides were done with Western saddles.

There was also the option to book a professional photo session during the ride. This additional service had to be booked one day in advance!

Stable

The horses were kept directly on the paddock behind the covered tying area. They had clean drinking water available 24/7 and were given plenty of feed. The team paid great attention to the horses wellbeing.

Arrival

Upon arrival, we were greeted by the dogs and the team. We waited until all guests had arrived and were invited to sit in the shade on chairs. Once everyone was there, we gathered at a metal cabinet as instructed. There, we received a disposable hairnet (for hygiene) and a riding helmet. The team asked about our riding experience and assigned the horses accordingly. Each rider mounted with the help of a mounting block, and the team adjusted the stirrups. Once everyone was seated, there was a short briefing on how the horses were ridden here and what to keep in mind. The ride began, and the team determined the riding order as we set off.

Trail Ride

The ride started directly from the ranch. We followed the road next to the ranch toward the beach. As the field began, we turned left and then immediately left again onto a narrow path leading up a hill. On the way up, we had to watch out for low-hanging branches. At the top, we turned right onto a narrow trail and enjoyed the breathtaking view across the sea to the opposite peninsula.

We followed this path until we entered a forest. In the forest, our route partly ran along the cliffs. The trail then led downhill, and at the end of the forest path we turned left to head uphill again. At the top, we reached a field and passed beehives at a safe distance. This section took us in a loop before turning right, descending through the forest, and then exiting it again.

Next came a trot stretch along a dirt track beside the forest. Shortly after, we rode downhill, turned right, and continued until we turned left onto another dirt track leading toward the sea. At the end of this track, we turned right and reached the beach. We walked directly by the water, past two piers. We circled a palm tree and then picked up a canter along the beach. At the pier, we stopped briefly for a break before continuing with a second canter on the beach. Just before reaching large rocks in the sand, we slowed back down to a walk.

We turned left and rode a half-circle through a field, then at the end, we went straight into the sea with the horses. After coming out of the water, we enjoyed a final short canter on the beach before heading back to the ranch at a walk.

After the ride

Back at the ranch, the team directed us to the tying area and secured the horses. Once all were tied up, we could dismount—either with the help of a chair or without. The team collected the helmets and handed out free 0.5 l bottles of water.

Photos

There was a photo break directly at the ranch. For the pictures, the team positioned the horses toward the camera and took several shots with our own phones.

My Review

I really enjoyed the ride. The horses were well cared for and everything was very relaxed. I also appreciated that we received a complimentary drink for refreshment.

While riding, I wore the Royal Horsemen riding leggings – they were extremely comfortable and pleasant to wear.
