Information

The Magic Ice Bar is located right in Reykjavik’s pedestrian zone, surrounded by tourist shops. It’s perfect for a short stop in between sightseeing. Tickets can easily be booked via GetYourGuide* buchbar und im Preis ist ein Getränk inklusive. Vor dem Betreten erhält man einen dicken Poncho, der notwendig ist, um sich vor der Kälte zu schützen.

Arrival

At check-in, you’ll receive a voucher card for your included drink. After that, the staff hands out the poncho, which you must wear for the duration of your stay. Guests are advised that entry is only possible once, so it’s a good idea to visit the restroom beforehand.

Experience

As the name suggests, the Magic Ice Bar is built entirely from ice. Upon entering, you’re greeted by an impressive icy atmosphere. A large ice chair with ice sculptures in the background stands as one of the highlights. Another centerpiece is half of a Viking ship, carefully carved out of ice.

The walls are decorated with artistic ice paintings, and in two smaller rooms, there are tables and benches also made of ice. To make sitting more comfortable, the benches are covered with lambskins. The bar itself is, of course, also carved from ice and features additional sculptures and artwork.

The drinks menu is limited, but beverages are served in thick ice glasses that are placed inside a holder so you can actually hold them without freezing your hands.

My Review

I visited the Magic Ice Bar alone – which wasn’t necessarily the best idea, but it was still a very nice experience, even though I couldn’t share the wonderful impressions with anyone. The design of the bar, with its ice sculptures and artistic decorations, truly impressed me. However, the Magic Ice Bar is smaller than expected, so under normal circumstances, people usually don’t stay longer than an hour.

The entrance fee isn’t cheap, but if you’d like to experience a unique little ice bar, I can definitely recommend a visit.
