Information
Guests paid for their Hotel Prategiano 2-hour ride in cash after the tour or directly via Viator*.
Free parking was available.
The rides took place in groups with other guests.
Stable
The horses lived in herds on large paddocks with 24/7 access to hay. There was also a stable with horse stalls, which were empty.
Arrival
Upon arrival, the horses were already saddled and bridled at the tie-up posts. The staff tightened the girths and led the horses to the riding area. Guests mounted using a mounting block. Before the ride began, the manager assigned the riding order, and the staff checked the girths again. After a short instruction to ride in a light seat when going uphill, we set off.
Trail Ride
Our route took us through the hilly fields and forests of Tuscany. In the fields, we followed narrow paths, while in the forest we rode on wider trails. Due to the challenging terrain and ground conditions, there were only limited opportunities for trotting or cantering. The ride was relaxed, and from the hills we enjoyed breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valley. Twice we had to cross a busy road. We rode side by side across the road and resumed single-file on the other side. We passed a watering trough and offered the horses water. Only after all the horses had drunk did we continue our ride.
After the ride
Back at the stable, we rode to the tie-up posts, dismounted, and tied the horses. We helped with unsaddling, unbridling, tidying up, and cleaning the saddle area with a sponge. The staff brought the horses back to the paddocks for their midday break or end of the day.
Photos
There was no photo stop during the ride. On request, a photo could be taken after the ride.
My Review
I enjoyed the ride. It was a relaxed and picturesque tour through the forests and hills of Tuscany.
