Information
Horse Riding Club Kos all rides were conducted as private rides. There were no groups with strangers.
A transfer picked me up.
Payment was made in cash after the ride.
The guide and owner spoke only Greek.
Stable
The horses were kept in individual stalls, each labeled with the horse’s name. Due to limited stall capacity, one horse was on a small paddock with food and water. In front of the stalls, there was a larger paddock where the horses could move around freely.
Arrival
Upon arrival, we went into the lounge so I could get changed. A riding helmet could be borrowed free of charge if needed. Afterwards, we headed to the mounting block, and the owner first brought out my horse, which was already saddled and bridled. Once I was in the saddle, he fetched his prepared horse from the stall, and the ride began.

Trail Ride
The ride started directly from the yard. We first rode a short distance along a busy road before turning onto a dirt path. Already on the way, we were able to trot. Shortly before reaching the dunes, we switched back to walking. We followed the dunes until we reached the beach. There, we first turned right and rode past tourists who were on the beach because a nearby hotel had set up lounge chairs. After a few meters, we turned right again onto the road and followed it until we could turn back onto the beach at the same spot. This time, we turned left and added trot and canter. At one point, we rode into the dunes to make a short round at a walk. Back on the beach, we returned the same way. Twice, we made a 180-degree turn on the beach. During the ride, we were considerate of the walkers on the narrow beach. We had many short trot and canter stretches. After reaching the beginning of the beach, we walked back to the stable along the same route.
After the ride
Back at the stable, we dismounted. I loosened the girth so the owner could take off the saddle. That’s when I noticed the bit — it was unlike anything I had seen before. It was a regular single-jointed snaffle with a large ring attached, which the horse also held in its mouth.
The owner immediately brought the horse back to its stall. We went into the lounge, where more bridles were hanging. At that time, however, the bits there had not yet been cleaned.
I paid for the ride and was driven home.
Photos
The guide took pictures and even videos (on request) with his phone. During the ride, he sent the shots directly via WhatsApp or AirDrop.
My Review
What I really appreciated was that the ride was private, allowing the owner to tailor it individually to my wishes. It was a beautiful and brisk ride through the dunes and along the beach.
