Information

We had the privilege of taking a private Hicham Cavalier 2 h sunset ride on the beach. The guide/owner “Hicham” could accommodate all our requests.

Guests could only pay in cash with Moroccan Dirham.

Stable

The stable is located in “Diabat,” a suburb of Essaouira. The stallions are all kept in individual stalls and are very well cared for.

Arrival

We met “Hicham” at the “Jimi Hendrix Cafe.” From there, we walked together to the stable. Upon arrival, he showed us the stable and the horses. The staff prepared the horses. We led the horses along a narrow path past additional small stables. At an open area, we mounted while Hicham held the horses and adjusted the stirrups. Once he was mounted, we were ready to start.

Trail Ride

Our ride began along a small river, which we followed in a straight line. Passing under a busy bridge, we reached the other side, where the first opportunity for a trot arose. The path continued past the impressive “Dar Sultan Palace.”

A gentle left turn brought us to the next trot section, stretching over soft dunes with trees. Afterwards, we allowed the horses to walk leisurely through the dunes before another short trot section followed.

Soon after, we turned right and reached the beach. With the sound of the waves in the background, we immediately used the first trot section. After a short walk break, we continued with more trot sections and finally a relaxed canter. Up to the turnaround point, we rode in all three gaits along the sea – sometimes calm, sometimes with relaxed canters.

On the way back, we again enjoyed the rhythm of walk, trot, and canter. The horses sometimes cantered calmly, sometimes faster over the sand, making the most of the wide beach as far as possible with many other riders from different stables present. Finally, we allowed the horses to walk again before turning right over the dunes and returning to the familiar path to the starting point.

After the ride

Back at the stable, the staff held the horses so riders could dismount. They led the horses directly to their stalls, unsaddled and unbridled them, and took care of them.

“Hicham” returned us to the meeting point at the “Jimi Hendrix Cafe” and organized a taxi.

Photos

On the beach, there was a photo break for beautiful shots with the sunset. A canter video was recorded on the way back.

My Review

Experiencing the sunset on the beach from horseback was truly beautiful. Lovely relaxed canters were included, as well as a slightly faster one.
