Information

A transfer picked up guests from their hotel.

Payment was made directly at check-in, either in cash or by card. Until it was time to start, guests waited in the lounge/restaurant area.

Group sizes for the 1-hour ride at Erikas Horse Farm. varied between 1–18 people plus the trail leader. Regardless of the group size, there was always only one guide.

Stable

The horses lived in individual stalls, each with a nameplate. The staff prepared the horses in the indoor arena. Behind the stalls there was a paddock with horses visible.

Arrival

When the time came, all riders went together to the helmet room. Either the owner accompanied them, or the guests walked ahead on their own. Each rider received a helmet from the staff. Experienced riders also had the option to borrow boots or breeches, while some beginners even showed up in shorts, dresses, or flip-flops. Since the beginners only rode at a walk, they did not receive additional riding equipment.

All riders gathered in the arena, where the horses were already waiting, saddled and bridled. The owner or staff first asked who among the riders was “advanced.” Riders then split into two groups—beginners and advanced—based on instructions. The staff first attended to the advanced group. The guide emphasized that this was a fast ride, with lots of trotting and galloping, and only for experienced riders who could always keep control of their horses. Next, the guide asked about each rider’s experience and assigned horses. Repeat guests could make a request. Before mounting, staff tightened the girths. Once everyone was mounted, the guide assigned the riding order.
The staff then untied the horses and led them into the proper order. Group size always depended on how many advanced vs. beginner riders were present.

While riding, I wore the Royal Horsemen riding leggings – they were extremely comfortable and pleasant to wear.

Trail Ride

Beginner Route:
The route started directly from the farm, following an asphalt road to an intersection. From there we turned right, then immediately left onto a field. We followed a dirt track across the field until it brought us to a small road. After crossing, we continued along trails until reaching a wide sandy road, which led past the salt lake and through the dunes. Eventually, we reached the sea and rode along the beach before making a 180-degree turn to return via the same path. Throughout the ride, staff accompanied the group on foot, occasionally leading the horses to make sure all riders felt comfortable.

Advanced Route:
The route also began from the farm, following the asphalt road to the same intersection, turning right and then left across the field. We followed the dirt path to a small road, crossed it, and continued along trails until we reached the wide sandy road. On these trails, we added trot. We then turned left onto a reed path leading to the salt lake, where we had our first gallop. The ride continued over sand dunes until we reached the sea. Along the beach, we rode in all three gaits before heading back through the dunes and past the salt lake to the shore. As a reward, we went swimming with the horses so they could cool off. By the time we returned to the stable, the horses had already enjoyed refreshing time in the sea, and the way back followed the same route as the outward journey.

After the ride

Back at the stable, we dismounted and the staff tied up the horses at the hitching posts.

At the bar, drinks were available for purchase.

A transfer brought all riders back to their hotel.

Photos

For Beginners:
There was a photo stop at the beach. Riders could hand their phone to the staff for pictures, or alternatively, a staff member used their own phone and later sent the photos via WhatsApp.

For Advanced Riders:
The trail leader took photos either during the swim or later on the beach with her own phone. Each rider had to message her with the date, ride, and horse’s name, and she sent the pictures via WhatsApp.

My Review

I really enjoyed the ride. Great beach gallops and swimming with the horse were a lot of fun. Riding around the salt lake was also beautiful and added variety.
