Apps for Riders

In my daily life – whether I’m out and about as a riding tour guide, at work, or simply in everyday situations – I use the following rider-friendly apps that make life easier and sometimes even bring in a little extra income.

Whether it’s counting steps or tracking riding routes – here are a few of my personal favorites that I use regularly.

Maybe you’ll find something useful for yourself too!

Earn Money Through Movement

Who doesn’t dream of getting paid for their daily walks?
With WeWard, your steps are converted into so-called Wards – a digital currency that you can later exchange for cash.

Admittedly, payouts take some time – you usually need at least 9 months or more to collect enough Wards.
But: the app rewards your movement – whether it’s walking the dog, working at the stables, or riding. Steps are tracked automatically, and at the end of the day you only need to confirm them.

I’ve personally cashed out € 15 twice already – just for daily walking and confirming my steps regularly.
Of course, you won’t get rich with it – but it’s a nice little bonus for activities you’re doing anyway.

Who doesn’t dream of getting paid for their daily walks?
With Macadam, your steps are converted into so-called Coins – a digital currency that you can later exchange for cash.

I’ve only been using Macadam since early June 2025, so I can’t yet say how long it takes to collect enough Coins for a payout.
But: the app rewards your movement – whether it’s walking the dog, working at the stables, or riding. Steps are tracked automatically, and at the end of the day you only need to confirm them.

Macadam is a nice little addition to earn a small reward for everyday activities.

Sweatcoin
I also tried Sweatcoin once, but the app didn’t convince me. After just a few days I deleted it – collecting points felt too complicated, there’s no real cash payout, and the actual benefit was too low for me.

WalkTask
I also tried WalkTask. The good thing is that you can collect coins, which can be converted into cash. However, for me, the app wasn’t worth it because you only earn coins by confirming the “gift.” The more gifts, the more coins – but constant ads appear between gifts, making it very time-consuming and frustrating. I ended up deleting the app after just a few days.

Track Your Riding Routes

This is an app I use regularly – mainly to track riding routes and later include accurate details in my reports about which trails we rode. Especially practical: Equilab also shows how much time was spent in walk, trot, or canter.

I’ve also connected the app with my Apple Watch (Series 9 – by Amazon)* – as a riding tour guide, this is super helpful to keep track of time during the ride and make sure we stay within the planned schedule.

For my purposes, the free version is more than enough – I haven’t tested the premium features yet.
