Information
Payment for the Beachcomber Horse Trails 90-minute river ride could be made either in cash after the ride or conveniently online via the "Beachcomber Horse Trails" website. This ride included other riders, and the guide adjusted the ride to the guests’ skill levels.
Stable
The horses spent their time in a herd on a large paddock near the owner’s house. There were no shelters on these pastures. The horses stayed outside in all weather conditions.
Arrival
Upon arrival, the horses were already saddled and bridled, waiting at a hitching post for the riders. The guide welcomed the guests, distributed helmets, and asked about riding experience in order to assign the suitable horse. The guide tightened the girth, led the horse, and held it while mounting. Once all riders were safely in the saddle, we were given the order, and the exciting ride began.

Trail Ride
The ride started directly from the farm. First, we rode along a narrow path past the kraal where the tack room was located. At a fork, we turned right and rode along hilly forest trails. Here and there, we could even spot spiders. The trail led us to the river. Along the “Kariega” River, the ride continued. When the ground conditions allowed, we added some trotting. At one point, we rode through the shallow river onto sandbanks. Here we had the opportunity to gallop. From one sandbank to the next, we rode again through the water. The horses were at most ankle-deep in the water. At one of the sandbanks, we turned around and followed the same path back. The view was breathtaking, and riding through the water was undoubtedly a highlight of the ride.

After the ride
At the hitching post, we dismounted one by one, and the guide tied up all the horses. After a short chat with the guide, we left. The staff took care of the horses.
Photos
During the ride, there was a photo break on the sandbanks with the sea in the background. Additional photos could be taken upon request.
My Review
I really enjoyed the ride. The view of the river was simply breathtaking, and the highlight was crossing the river. This ride had it all: the beautiful forest with its hills, meadow sections with narrow trails, the impressive river, idyllic sandbanks, and in the background, the sparkling sea.
