Information
Riders registered online for this ride via the website. from Puur Terschelling. A calendar showed all rides scheduled for the selected day. Guests paid directly online and received a ticket for each ride.
The group consisted of 5 riders plus the guide. The guide carried a first-aid kit.
Stable
The farm was clean and painted black, matching the Friesians. The horses spent their free time in a paddock. Some horses might have been in a smaller paddock shortly before the ride, where hay was available.
Arrival
Upon arrival, six Friesians were waiting at the covered tying area. The staff prepared the horses for the ride.
During this time, a team member asked about the riders’ experience and assigned the horses. Each rider received a small waist bag with snacks for the ride: a 0.3-liter water bottle, an apple, a small pack of Pringles, and some cookies. With the mounting block, riders mounted from the right side. The staff adjusted the stirrups, and then the ride began.
My Trail Ride Diary
Your personal companion for your ride trips– with plenty of space for photos and notes!
Trail Ride
The ride started immediately on sandy paths through the dunes. We trotted for the first time in the dunes. At the beach, we soon went into the first canter. We cantered several times along the one-kilometer-wide beach at a relaxed pace. All three gaits were ridden side by side. The horses remained calm and obedient at the canter. The ride continued to the Drenkelingenhuisje, where we stopped for a break. The horses were tied, and we enjoyed our snacks before heading back. The return route was the same as the way out, following the water before turning back into the dunes and returning to the farm.
After the ride
Back at the stable, each rider dismounted. The staff tied the horses at the covered area to unsaddle and unbridle them. The horses were rewarded with food before returning to the paddock.
Photos
We stopped for a photo break in front of the Drenkelingenhuisje. The guide took photos facing the sea. Riders handed their phones to the guide for the pictures.
My Review
I really enjoyed this ride. The wide sandy beach by the sea was beautiful. The canters were wonderful, and it was great that riders could ride side by side in all gaits. Riding a Friesian on the beach is an amazing feeling. The horses were well cared for, and everyone had fun.
