Information
By Captain Joes Horse Stable trail rides take place in groups with multiple guides or privately, so the guide can best accommodate the guests’ wishes.
Guests could only pay in cash, with Euros, USD, or Egyptian Pounds.
A transfer picked up guests from their hotel.
Upon request, guests could borrow a riding helmet or breeches for free. There is no helmet requirement.
This stable is run by the lovely Daniela (Swiss) and the kind Youssef (Egyptian). They pay great attention to the horses’ well-being!
Stable
The stable is located 700 meters from the beach and just a few meters from the desert.
The stable housed mares, geldings, and a stallion. They mostly stay in individual boxes, only mares were kept together in larger boxes. All boxes had sand floors and were very clean. There are horses for every level, and all are well-fed. The horses’ welfare comes first here.
Arrival
Upon arrival, Youssef gave us a tour of the stable and showed all the horses. We were offered tea while the staff prepared the horses for the ride.
We mounted directly without a mounting aid. A staff member held the horse and adjusted the stirrups. Once the guide was seated, the ride began.

Trail Ride
The ride started directly at the stable. We first rode to the right, then immediately turned left and followed the lightly trafficked asphalt road to its end. From there, we switched to a sandy path that led us straight to the beach.
Once on the beach, we soon had our first opportunity to trot. After a short walking break, there was a small but beautiful canter section, which we enjoyed. Then we continued at a relaxed walk until we reached the next canter stretch along the beach and used it extensively.
Finally, we left the beach and turned left toward the desert. We rode straight through the wide desert landscape until we reached the stable again.
A harmonious ride that combined beach and desert, offering the perfect balance of action and relaxation.

While riding, I wore the Royal Horsemen riding leggings – they were extremely comfortable and pleasant to wear.

After the ride
Back at the farm, staff met us and held the horses so riders could dismount. They unsaddled and bridled the horses, led them a bit further, and even gave them a shower.
Meanwhile, we sat with the guide and were offered free tea and water.
Eventually, it was time to say goodbye, and the transfer took us back to the hotel.

My Review
I really enjoyed the ride, especially the beautiful canter along the beach and in the shallow water. The desert section was also fantastic! Everything was perfect, and no wishes remained unfulfilled.
