Information

By Captain Joes Horse Stable trail rides take place in groups with multiple guides or privately, so the guide can best accommodate the guests’ wishes.

Guests could only pay in cash, with Euros, USD, or Egyptian Pounds.

A transfer picked up guests from their hotel.

Upon request, guests could borrow a riding helmet or breeches for free. There is no helmet requirement.

This stable is run by the lovely Daniela (Swiss) and the kind Youssef (Egyptian). They pay great attention to the horses’ well-being!

Stable

The stable is located 700 meters from the beach and just a few meters from the desert.

The stable housed mares, geldings, and a stallion. They mostly stay in individual boxes, only mares were kept together in larger boxes. All boxes had sand floors and were very clean. There are horses for every level, and all are well-fed. The horses’ welfare comes first here.

Arrival

Upon arrival, Youssef gave us a tour of the stable and showed all the horses. We were offered tea while the staff prepared the horses for the ride.
We mounted directly without a mounting aid. A staff member held the horse and adjusted the stirrups. Once the guide was seated, the ride began.

While riding, I wore the Royal Horsemen riding leggings – they were extremely comfortable and pleasant to wear.

Trail Ride

The ride began directly at the stable. We followed the quiet road just outside the stable and entered the vast desert. The path first led us left across the rocky desert ground, with mountains visible in the distance. After a while, we turned right and rode almost up to a dune before turning right again.

Here we found a soft sandy track – perfect for an extended canter, which we enjoyed to the fullest. Afterwards, we continued at a walk, heading directly towards the beach.

Once at the beach, we first rode left to take advantage of another canter stretch. At the end of this track, we turned around and entered the shallow water for a short gallop. Back on land, we continued walking along the beach to the left.

Eventually, we reached another spot in the water, which invited us for a final canter. Afterwards, we strolled back along the beach at a relaxed walk and made our way home.

The ride ended with a cozy return to the stable and the wonderful feeling of having fully enjoyed the beauty of both desert and beach.

After the ride

Back at the stable, staff members met us to hold the horses while we dismounted. They unsaddled and unbridled the horses, walked them a little, and gave them a refreshing shower.
Meanwhile, we sat with the guide and were offered free tea and water.

Eventually, it was time to say goodbye, and the transfer took us back to the hotel.

Photos

During the ride, Youssef took lots of beautiful photos and videos. We handed him our phone for this.
Make sure you have enough storage space.

My Review

I really enjoyed this ride with the beautiful canters along the beach and even in the shallow water. The desert section was also amazing! Nothing was left to be desired.
