Information
The 1-hour trail ride at Reiterhof Andresen was paid for in cash before the ride during registration.
Stable
All horses lived out 24/7 on pasture, where there were no shelters for them. A few horses were kept in boxes overnight during the winter.
Arrival
At a small tack room, guests signed up for the ride. The staff assigned each guest a horse to groom. If needed, riders could borrow a helmet from the larger tack room. Once all horses were groomed, we saddled and bridled them. While mounting, a staff member held the horse steady and tightened the girth once more. Then the ride began.
Trail Ride
The ride started directly at the stable. We followed a dirt path next to the paved bike lane and stopped once to tighten the girths. The trail continued until we turned right onto a narrow track between the trees, where we could trot. At the end of the path, we returned to a walk and turned left, following the trail until we had to cross a road. We then continued along a small track across a meadow and into the forest. Here came the next trot, until we turned left again. Relaxed riding continued on the wide forest track. At one point, depending on the riders’ skill level, we could either trot or canter. Right and then left turns led us into the nature reserve, where riding was only allowed at the walk. After leaving the reserve, we re-entered the forest, where trotting was possible again. At the end of the forest, we returned to a walk and followed small trails past paddocks with horses and cattle. After crossing the road a second time, one last trot was possible on the way back, before finishing the ride in a relaxed walk to the stable.
After the ride
Back at the stable, each rider cleaned up, gave their horse a final grooming if needed, and was allowed to take it back out to the pasture.

My Review
I really enjoyed the rides. The surroundings were beautiful, and I was lucky enough to experience Amrum both with and without snow — each in its own way special. I also appreciated being able to prepare my own horse.
