At Erikas Horse Farm. the bareback ride and swim is always done at a walk only. This activity is exclusively offered as a private ride, so there are no groups with other riders.
A transfer picked us up.
Payment was made before the ride, either in cash or by card at the bar.
Wearing a helmet was mandatory during the ride. We were allowed to ride barefoot, which was very comfortable. My tip: wear a bikini or swimsuit, and bring a waterproof phone case. wasserdichte Handyhülle mit.
Stable
The horses lived in individual stalls, each with a nameplate. The staff prepared the horses in the indoor arena. Behind the stalls there was a paddock with horses visible.
Arrival
All horses were already waiting in the arena. The team began preparing them for the rides. A staff member informed us which horses were available for the swimming ride and let us choose which one we wanted. After receiving helmets, we walked barefoot to the horses. The staff helped us mount. Once the trail leader was on her horse, she determined the riding order and the ride began.
My Trail Ride Diary
Your personal companion for your ride trips– with plenty of space for photos and notes!
Trail Ride
The ride started directly from the farm and followed an asphalt road to an intersection. We turned right, then immediately left onto a field, where a narrow trail led us onward. After crossing a small road, we continued on paths until we reached a wide sandy road running alongside the salt lake. From there, we rode further across the dunes until we arrived at the sea – and rode straight into the water.
We spent over 20 minutes with the horses in the sea. Riders had the option to dismount and cool off in the water or swim alongside their horse. During the swim, care was taken to ensure that the horses always kept their feet on the ground.
After this refreshing water adventure, we returned to the stable via the same route.
After the ride
Back at the stable, we dismounted and the staff tied up the horses at the hitching posts.
At the bar, drinks were available for purchase.
A staff member drove us back.
Photos
We had our own phone with us in a waterproof case, so we could easily hand it to the trail leader. She took plenty of photos and videos for us.
In addition, Erika herself took more photos, which she later sent to us via WhatsApp.
My Review
I really enjoyed this ride – it was relaxing, private, and truly magical. Swimming in the sea with the horse was such a unique experience! I could actually feel how much my horse loved the water, especially when it splashed around and soaked itself completely.
