Information

Guests paid for the  Cortijo Mangueta 2,5 h ride in cash.

To be able to react quickly, a staff member accompanied us on a motorcycle during the ride.

Stable

The horses lived in herds in open stables and had access to hay. The owner prepared the horses in small boxes.

Arrival

Upon arrival, the owner welcomed us. We discussed our riding experience and chose helmets while the owner prepared the horses for the ride. She brought out one horse at a time for mounting and positioned the horse in the arena until all horses with riders were lined up. While waiting for further instructions, we noticed that the bits were completely rusted.

While riding, I wore the Royal Horsemen riding leggings – they were extremely comfortable and pleasant to wear.

Trail Ride

Before heading into the open terrain, we walked a few rounds at a walk on the riding arena. Once the owner gave the green light, we could trot along a long side. At the corner, we were to return to a walk. After a few rounds, we were instructed to follow the guide on the bike. We rode along the trails, and sometimes the rider on the bike went so far ahead that we could no longer see him. We didn’t know whether to continue at a trot or walk, so we discussed it among ourselves and decided to trot. The guide then came back and told us to stay at a walk. We continued walking through a sunflower field until we finally reached the dunes and the beach. On the beach, we rode at a walk to the right until we came to a stop. All riders took photos with their own phones. Shortly after, the guide explained the gallop sections. He rode a short straight stretch in the sand and returned to the group. For the first gallop, each rider followed the marked route individually, made a 180-degree turn, and galloped toward the group. Right behind the group, we rode into the deep sand to return to a walk. This first gallop was very short. During the second and third gallops, we rode in pairs. After everyone had gone, we walked along the beach for a while until we made another 180-degree turn and returned along the same path. At the same spot, we stopped once more for a final short gallop before riding back to the stable at a walk. The guide had already arrived at the stable long before us.

After the ride

Back at the stable, the owners met us and took care of the horses. There was the opportunity to talk with the owner.

Photos

There was a photo break on the beach where everyone received nice pictures and gallop videos.

My Review

Everyone got beautiful photos and videos during the ride. I liked that we had the chance to get to know the horses at a walk and trot in the arena beforehand.
