What can I expect from a two-hour ride for advanced riders at Die Erlebnisreiter Pfalz? Here you’ll find all the important information about the stable, the ride, whether photos were taken, and my review.

Information

Die Erlebnisreiter Pfalz has an online riding calanderwhere guests could check when the owner offered rides. Registration was done via WhatsApp. There was no mobile reception on the farm, so responses could take a while.

The owner only offered rides of at least 2 hours.

Stable

The farm is located in the middle of the Palatinate Mountains. On the last few meters to the farm, there were large pastures on both sides where the horses spent the summer. During the winter, the horses stayed on a large paddock and were brought into individual stalls in the evening. Hay was available 24/7 on the paddock and in the stalls. Additionally, the horses received concentrated feed in the stalls.

Arrival

Everything ran very smoothly. The owner spoke extensively with the group and assigned the horses. Guests could request a preferred horse. Only after this conversation did the riders bring the horses for the ride, if they were not already in the stalls.

Riders prepared the horses in the stalls. Before mounting, they walked a few steps beside the horse to a rock or tree stump. Then the girth was checked again, and they mounted using the mounting aid.

Trail Ride

The ride went through the Palatinate Forest hills. There were no designated riding paths in the forest. Riders could explore all the trails, and there was a lot to discover. At the beginning, we warmed the horses for half an hour at a walk. Uphill and on straight sections, we trotted and galloped. This was possible several times. If horse and rider were comfortable, the ride also went partly off-trail through the forest. On the last meters back to the stable, guests dismounted, loosened the girth, and led the horses back.

The owner did not strictly monitor the time. A two-hour ride could sometimes take 2 ½ hours. Riders paid for 2 hours. If the ride lasted 2 ½ hours, the owner usually included a break in a hut toward the end of the ride. Guests could buy drinks or food there.

After the ride

Back at the stable, riders unbridled and unsaddled the horses. They groomed and, if needed, bathed the horses. Depending on the time of day and year, the horses were returned to the pasture, paddock, or left in the stall.

Photos

A photo break was arranged upon request.

My Review

I really enjoyed the rides. The Palatinate Mountains are a beautiful area for riding. There was a lot to see and the horses were well cared for. I also appreciated being able to prepare my own horse.
