Arrival
At the entrance, I showed my QR code and received an audio device with headphones. Jackets could be hung up conveniently at the coat stand in the entry area.
Experience
The museum offers an exciting journey through Iceland’s history. With lifelike figures and well-designed scenes, historical events come alive. You will encounter figures such as Snorri Sturlusson, Ingolfur Arnarson, and Leif the Lucky. The museum also explains historical events like the devastating Black Death pandemic. In total, about 20 exhibits are on display.
The museum starts with the beginnings of Icelandic history and takes visitors step by step through various eras. The realistic figures make the stories very engaging and easy to follow.

After this experience
At the end of the tour, visitors reach the main area, which features a Viking corner where you can dress up and take photos. Afterwards, a small souvenir shop can be visited before picking up your jacket and finishing the visit.
Photos
During the tour, photos and videos can be taken, though it’s often most effective at the photo stop, where you can dress up as a Viking. You may ask other guests or staff for help to take your picture.
My Review
The Saga Museum is a lovely place for anyone interested in Iceland’s history. The tour is interesting and educational, though it can sometimes be difficult to remember everything, especially the many names of historical figures. However, anyone hoping to see anything about Norse mythology with Thor, Loki, or Odin will be disappointed.
